Chapping and cracking of skin are attributable to internal dryness and changing weather conditions. Dry skin is characterized by lack of moisture. It not only makes your skin look terrible, but also causes it to burn. A drop in temperature or a sudden rise in temperature can also lead to dry skin. Dry skin makes you look dull and leaves you with an uncomfortable feeling every time you take a shower or wash your face. Dehydration, exposure to the sun, rain, winter, and other harsh elements, genetics, nutritional deficiencies and skin disorders are some of the reasons for dry skin. However, all of these problems can be brought under control with use of vitamin E oil.

Vitamin E Oil
Most of the commercialized skin care products are a farce, as they fail to deliver the promises they make on TV. As opposed to this, this vitamin rich oil serves are an excellent homemade remedy for treating dry skin. This oil is largely used in making several cosmetics that promise the world to you. However, combining this oil with other ingredients, reduces its power to affect the skin in a desired way. Vitamin E is a popular antioxidant, which prevents the skin from looking old. Additionally it also helps in preventing the skin from the harmful effects of the sun. This vitamin keeps the skin hydrated and provides it with adequate lubrication so that the outer skin layer does not crack or chap.

Making Vitamin E Lotion
  • 1/4 cup cocoa butter
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil
  • 1 tbsp beeswax
  • 2 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp avocado oil
  • 3 tbsp vitamin E oil

Melt cocoa butter, coconut oil, sesame oil, and avocado oil in a bowl. Preferably, use double boiling method. Keep stirring this mix constantly till every ingredient is mixed well. Next, add a tablespoon of beeswax and keep it stirring till all the ingredients blend well. Just when you are about to remove the mixture from heat, add vitamin E oil. Pour the mixture in a container and allow it to cool down. Use this lotion after 3-4 days, so that the essence of all the ingredients is seeped in well for the required effect.

Some Variations
Adding a few essential oils to the lotion will not only make it fragrant, but also enhance its potential benefits. Many oils have healing properties which benefit the skin and senses too. Here's a brief list of essential oils you can use to make your lotion better than any other skin care formula.

Calendula: Calendula oil is extremely beneficial for treating sensitive skin. It soothes inflammation and provides relief from burning. Its antibacterial properties are excellent for fungal infections on skin, rashes, sun burns, other types of scaling, and dryness.

Rose: Rose oil is widely used in skin products. Its antiseptic properties makes it ideal for treating acne problems and dry skin. Rose oil is also known to be anti-depressant and aphrodisiac in nature. So rub a little for a happy feeling!

Lavender: The calming effect of lavender essential oil cannot be matched by any other oil. It is known for curing migraines, depression, anxiety and stress, which are often the root causes of degenerating skin condition.

Chamomile: Chamomile provides a cleansing effect to the skin. It soothes the tension created by ulcers, wounds, acne and pimples. It is best known for curing dermatitis, eczema, rashes, and other hypersensitive skin issues.

Mix any of these essential oils in your homemade lotion to make it more effective. Vitamin E oil has been tried, tested, and proven to be an effective remedy for skin. This vitamin prevents loss of water from skin and thus retains the level of moisture. It helps in maintaining the oil balance of skin and makes your skin look youthful.
