Acne is a condition that chases individuals from all walks of life. It gets obsessed with you from the day you step into your teens, well into your twenties and until you get into the middle-age domain. Nose acne is an extremely frustrating condition as it affects one's physical appearance directly. It is visible and usually tends to make the individual turn away from social interaction.
What Causes Nose Acne
When the sebaceous glands become active in nature, which is at puberty in both boys and girls, acne begins to appear. Sometimes, the skin cells on the surface get blocked which in turn causes the sebum or oil to build up. This process triggers the growth of bacteria and further activates the neighboring cells thus resulting in the inflammation of skin tissues.
Types
The T-zone that includes your forehead, nose, and the chin are areas most susceptible to acne. The types of acne that attack the nose include:
Blackheads
Blackheads are caused due to the blocking of skin pores. The blocking does not give the sebum an opening to the skin surface. Sebum contains melanin which oxidizes in presence of air, giving the blackheads their black color. Blackheads are also known as comedones. It is a common myth that blackheads are a sign of hygiene issues.
Whiteheads
Whiteheads are small white bumps on the surface of the skin. Milia or whiteheads are caused when excess of sebum is secreted by the sebaceous glands. Sebum comes to the skin surface through the skin pores or hair follicles. If they are blocked, or if the sebum becomes rigid, the result is the formation of whiteheads.
Acne Rosacea
This condition typically affects the cheeks, nose, forehead, and the chin. Rashes and redness are some of its vital characteristic signs. Small red-colored bumps, skin blemishes are also seen. If acne is concentrated on the nose, the condition appears worse. It is important to understand red nose rosacea as a condition or a skin ailment in itself and not muddle it with the easy-to-treat sunburns or ignore it as an odd acne episode.
Nose Acne Cysts
They are painful, pus-filled bumps formed due to a blockage in the sebaceous glands. These glands then burst, causing an inflammation of the nearby tissues. Cystic acne is considered to be one of the most painful of all types of acne. This condition can cause permanent scars. Nose acne scars are those unappealing marks that are left behind after the cyst has subsided. Pollution and humidity levels also cause cysts. A majority of people carry a preconceived notion that washing or over-scrubbing your face could be the solution for a clean and clear skin. Unfortunately, this does not hold true. This only results in dry skin or over-exfoliated skin that makes the skin pores excessively susceptible to clogging. Picking or squeezing pimples is the worst thing to do in the skin clearing process.
Treatment
Nose acne could be treated by employing certain small yet significant steps that involve little effort but yield great results. First and foremost, one needs to understand that our facial skin is the most delicate part of the body. Using a mild soap on the face helps keep it clean and blemish-free. We are often too lazy to remove makeup traces and call it a night. This is not advisable for skin prone to pimples and acne. Visiting a parlor and treating yourself to a facial or rejuvenating face mask relaxes your mind and soothes your senses. Ensure that only a trained beautician conducts a treatment or face therapy for you. Natural acne cures include a process of steaming your face and gently placing a hot towel over it. One could gently squeeze out the blackheads and whiteheads on the nose with an instrument called the extractor. This should be followed by the application of a face mask made of Multani mitti (Fuller's earth) mixed with rose water, a pinch of turmeric, and sandalwood. This is an effective way to control the recurrence of pimples. Applying honey with a pinch of sandalwood and rose water proves to be effective as well. This face pack would soothe your pores for sure. Lemon juice proves to be a good treatment for acne scars. Do not squeeze the peas on your nose.
It would for sure take some time for you to get a clear skin, but you should not stop taking the necessary precautions mid-way assuming that the measures are not working well.
