Moisturizers are the best option to keep the winter away. Commercial moisturizers can have elements which are allergic to some people. Homemade face moisturizer recipes, are the best alternatives to ready-made moisturizers.

With winter around the corner, dry skin is the most common problem. There are several causes for dry skin, out of which, dry air is the major one. Due to dry air, the moisture of the face is drawn out. And dry air characterizes winters, which is the reason why we face the problem of dry skin in winter. Moisturizing is a very important part of skin care, not only for dry skin, but for all skin types. Most of the moisturizers are oil or water based, which help to retain water by locking the moisture on the skin's surface.
There are different types of moisturizers such as oil or water based moisturizers, Alpha Hydroxy Acids moisturizers (AHAs) and retinoid moisturizers. All of them have the same function and that is to moisturize the skin. But they contain different ingredients. So it is better to check which type of moisturizer suits you best. The following moisturizer recipes, are the ones which can suit all skin types.
Recipe #1
This facial moisturizer is to be made with apricot oil, jojoba oil and Vitamin E. Apricot oil contains vitamins and minerals which work great for delicate skin. Jojoba oil is very effective as it penetrates through the skin very easily. Vitamin E contains antioxidants and improves the elasticity of the skin and so is one of the basic ingredients of almost all skin care creams. It is also a good preservative.
Ingredients
- 1 tsp avocado oil
- 1 tsp jojoba oil
- 1 tsp apricot kernel oil
- 2 tsp Vitamin E capsules or ½ tsp Vitamin E oil
- 8 drops of lavender oil

Aloe vera increases the availability of oxygen to the skin, which prevents the skin from getting dry.
Ingredients
- 1 cup rose water or water
- 1 tsp aloe vera gel
- 2 tsp almond oil or apricot kernel oil
- ¼ cup stearic acid powder
- ¼ tsp fresh baking soda
- ¼ cup grape seed oil or walnut oil

This is an easy homemade face moisturizer recipe which you can use anytime.
Ingredients
- 10 drops of rosewater
- 2-4 drops of glycerin
- 6 tsp of wheat germ oil
- 2-4 tsp of witch hazel
- 6 tsp honey

Ingredients
- 15g beeswax
- 2 cups water
- 2 tsp rosewater
- 25ml apricot kernel oil
- 1tsp lemon juice
- 2 tsp evening primrose oil
- 25ml jojoba oil
- 70ml bottled water
Your face moisturizer will work the best if you apply it regularly. Also, do not apply on soaking wet face. First pat your face with a towel and then apply the moisturizer. Take good care of your skin; it needs moisture.
